The National Technical Museum is an organization conducting basic and applied research that leads to publications and collaboration in creating exhibitions. The professional staff also takes part in pedagogical activities. Research workers have carried out the Czech Technology Against the Backdrop of World Development research plan, which followed up the previous successful plan entitled The History of Science and Technology.

The National Technical Museum is currently involved in two other NAKI projects: The Czech Technical University project – Methodologies and tools for protecting and preserving cultural heritage threatened by floods and the project of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic – Traditional lime-based technologies of historical buildings and their present use. The National Technical Museum is also working with the National Heritage Institute on the project on the project “Everyday Life and Cultural Influence of the Aristocracy in Bohemia and in Central Europe”
