This section looks at a pedagogical approach in teaching architecture, art history, but also underscores that building construction cannot do without architectural models and building components. A very special place in the architecture collection is occupied by the so-called "Sander's collection", which was created for teaching purposes at the Secondary School of Civil Engineering in Smíchov at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. More than eight hundred casts represent the development of European classical architecture – Greek and Roman, medieval, Renaissance and Baroque – in the form of plaster copies of preserved authentic fragments of famous buildings. This extensive collection was compiled and handed over to the museum on the initiative of the local teacher, architect František Sander in 1921.
