ACCESS TO THE SITE
You can reach the former brewery building, where the main entrance to the exhibitions is located (ticket office, cloakroom, restrooms), by car. There is a designated parking spot for wheelchair users. The pavement immediately surrounding the building can be somewhat difficult to navigate. When moving between other nearby museum buildings, you may encounter small gravel, roughly hewn stones, and grass.
ENTRANCE
To the right of the main entrance to the exhibitions (former brewery building), there is a bell (at a height of 160 cm) to call for elevator assistance. The elevator is located immediately to the right around the corner. The elevator leads to the ticket office and other exhibition floors.
ELEVATOR
The external access to the elevator is locked, but it can be freely used between floors once inside. The door width is 130 cm. Up to four wheelchairs can fit inside. Buttons include Braille labeling.
INTERIOR
Visitors with limited mobility can comfortably visit all exhibition and display areas in the former brewery building (Construction Exhibition), except for one part of the exhibition in the mill, located on its gallery (18 steps, approx. 4 m elevation). Access is more challenging—but possible with assistance—to part of the construction exhibition on the gallery on the second floor (4 consecutive steps, 68 cm elevation) and to the temporary exhibition in the mill (2 floor levels, each with an 18 cm step). On the first floor, there is a threshold ramp into the exhibition which a wheelchair user with limited upper limb mobility can easily cross with assistance. On the second floor, at the entrance to the roof trusses, there is a gentle ramp with a threshold. There is barrier-free access to parts of the construction exhibition “Rough Construction” and “Water and Heating” and to the temporary exhibition in the old boiler room via separate entrances from the brewery courtyard. Museum staff are available to assist with navigation and access.
Short-term projects are also held in part of the former farmstead yard, where access is mostly barrier-free with normal door thresholds. Only at four points is there a single step up to 20 cm due to level changes. This area also hosts public programs and workshops. Newly accessible is part of the Lager Cellars building with the Exhibition of Medieval Construction Machines, featuring only four slightly inclined ramps where assistance may be needed. To visit all activities and areas, use the single entrance with the ticket office described above, where detailed information is available.
HYGIENE FACILITIES
Barrier-free toilets are located in the basement and on the 4th floor. Detailed description of the basement toilet: The room is 193 cm wide, entrance door 90 cm wide. The toilet bowl is in the corner, with 120 cm of free space on the left side and 75 cm in front toward the washbasin. The rim of the toilet bowl is 48 cm high. Grab bars are on both sides at a height of 81 cm; the left one is foldable. The washbasin has 70 cm of free space underneath, with the top edge at 84 cm. It is not equipped with an emergency call button. Another similarly equipped barrier-free toilet on the 4th floor is always open and available, also without an emergency call button.
PARKING
You can arrive by car at the former brewery building where the main exhibition is located. A designated parking spot for wheelchair users is available in the courtyard. Parking is also possible elsewhere in the courtyard or in the large parking lot in front of the monastery complex, about 200 meters from the entrance to the Construction Exhibition.
