Electric Clock Network exhibition
The National Technical Museum opens the Electric Clock Network exhibition. There are two main reasons why the exhibition was prepared for 2023. This year marks seventy years since the establishment of the Elektročas and a century since the establishment of the Jednotný čas company. The exhibition also deals with clock network as a civilizational phenomenon.
The dominant functional exhibit will remind visitors of how clock network worked in public spaces, schools and factories in the 1970s. Among the rarities, you can see a switchboard from a chemical factory or an American control clock, the so-called punch clock, from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The comprehensively conceived exhibition also ensures a unified time as a manifestation of the technical civilization of the last century, a period of advanced industrialization and a way of life that we usually describe as "modern". Lives that are permeated in the work and private spheres by the unified, synchronized course of time, introduced in the century before last in railway transport and the controlling course of industrial and administrative units.
