From June 11, 2026 – Historical Salons with Josef Navrátil's Wall Paintings
The Vávra House served as the residence of Prague millers until the end of the 19th century. Preserved here is the unique decoration by landscape painter Josef Navrátil from 1847.
The first floor of the Vávra House is conceived as a reconstruction of a interior from the first half of the 19th century. The experience of the visit is enhanced by the wall oil paintings by Josef Navrátil from 1847. Their author also contributed, among other projects, to the decoration of Prague Castle and the royal summer residences at Ploskovice and Zákupy.
Originally a Renaissance building, the structure acquired its Baroque appearance in 1678, with further minor modifications carried out in 1805 and 1899. Today the monument‑protected building is one of the few remaining traces of the original development of the Petřín district. Since 1988, the Postal Museum, now part of the National Technical Museum, has been located here.
